About Upcycling in Artlant
Upcycling is a key element in Artlant's history—from patented Alga Carta in the '90s using damaging algae from the Venice Lagoon, to Crush in 2012 (agro-industrial residues), Remake in 2015 (leather by-products), and Refit in 2019 (fashion textile fibers). Our laboratories are constantly working on the next generation of ecological paper.

100% Recyclable & Biodegradable
FSC™ certified, fully recyclable in standard paper loops to provide precious new fibers, and fully biodegradable to protect ecosystems.
The Upcycled Portfolio
Crush Range
Replaces up to 15% of tree cellulose with organic residues from corn, citrus, kiwi, olive, almond, hazelnut, coffee, lavender, cherry, cacao, and grape processing.
Refit Wool, Cotton & Denim
Inspired by fashion, Refit includes over 50% pre- and post-consumer recycled waste, topped up with 40% wool, cotton, and denim fibers.
Remake & Alga Carta
Alga Carta uses over-proliferated algae from the Venice Lagoon (patented in the '90s). Remake incorporates 25% leather by-products for a luxury tactile experience.
Shiro Echo, Sparto & Tree Free
Shiro Echo delivers premium 100% recycled performance, while Tree Free and Sparto utilize rapidly renewable non-tree sources like bamboo.
